Why should I choose Nikki Brown Photography?

I have photographed women for many years and I know the clothing tips, posing and camera angles that will flatter your figure.  As a female photographer, you can rest assured that you will feel comfortable and at ease with me photographing you, and I will provide posing guidance throughout the shoot.  My retouching skills mean that your photos will look polished and professional (no need to stress about stretch marks, cellulite and bruises) but also so that your photos still look like you. 

Where do you take the photos?

I photograph from my home studio, located in Brisbane (at Mansfield, 20 minutes south-east of Brisbane CBD and 45 minutes from the Gold Coast).  My studio is cooled during summer and heated during winter for your comfort. 

I also photograph on location in Brisbane, Gold Coast or the Sunshine Coast - whether your home, a hotel room, beach or parkland.  As I predominantly photograph with natural light, please ensure that your chosen location has an abundance of natural light.  I can help guide you on whether your location is suitable.  

I also travel to Townsville, to cater for my North Queensland clients.  I photograph at a modern hotel room.

I am also available to travel to other destinations throughout Australia, contact me if you would like to organise a shoot.    

How long is the hair & makeup and shoot? 

Hair and makeup normally takes 1.5 hours - 2 hours.  The shoot is 2 hours. I suggest allowing minimum 4 hours for H&M and shoot time, so that we can also have a chat and look through your outfit choices prior to your shoot.

Is makeup and hair included?

Makeup and hair is additional, as I wanted to offer those women that are comfortable doing their own makeup the opportunity to save money, instead of paying extra for something they didn't require.  However I work with some talented makeup artists, so please let me know if you require a makeup artist and I can organise one for you.  If you are shooting in my studio, they will do your hair and makeup at my studio prior to your shoot.  If you are shooting on location they will come directly to you.  They charge $140 and you pay the hair and makeup artist directly at your shoot. This cost includes glamorous makeup, false eyelashes and hairstyling (waves, hair straightening, or putting in your clip-in extensions).


How do I view and choose my photos?

Within several days of your photo shoot I will provide a password to a private gallery on my website for you to select your images. This gallery will be online for you to select your photos.  

What is your availability? 

I mainly work on weekdays, with Saturdays also available.  Please enquire regarding my next availability, as some times of year are busier than others.   

I need the photos for a special occasion (such as wedding, birthday or anniversary), how far ahead should I book?  

I suggest trying to do your shoot a month or two prior to your occasion to allow time for the shoot, gallery to be prepared, time to choose your images, time for your photos to be retouched and your album to arrive. Digital images are ready 2 weeks from placement of your order.  However get in touch as I will always try my best to accommodate your timeframe. 

How many outfits do I bring? 

Bring 3 different outfit choices to your shoot.  Once you have paid your shoot fee and booked in your shoot time, I will provide detailed information on how to prepare for your shoot and some ideas on what to bring.     

I am curvy/ older / don't look like a model, do you cater for me?

Yes, definitely! Rest assured that I have worked with all shapes and ages of women.  I can recommend clothing to suit your shape, as well as use flattering poses and camera angles so that you receive beautiful photos.  

I am unsure if I feel comfortable doing a shoot in lingerie, do you take clothed portraits too? 

Yes definitely!  I photograph many styles - headshots, personal branding photography, couple shoots, maternity and environmental portraits.   

Do you have payment plans available?

Yes I do offer pre-shoot payment plans.
